If you have trees in your backyard, you probably enjoy seeing their beautiful fall color, resting in their shade on a warm day, or just listening to the wind rustling their leaves. There are many positive things about trees, but did you know that there are a few dangers with having trees near your home as well?
For one thing, if they were to fall on your home or drop a limb on it, it could do a lot of damage. WDO (Wood Destroying Organisms) could move on from a sick tree to your home. A fire could spread from the tree and pose a fire hazard. These are all dangerous situations, and they should impel you to make sure that the trees around your home are healthy since they are much more likely to happen with a sick or dying tree.
Knocking on a tree could give you some information. If it sounds hollow or if the surface feels soft, then you should consider taking it down. You should also pay attention to the leaves on the tree. If you have branches that don’t have any leaves on them, they should be cut down to keep the tree healthy.
